Object storage without egress fees means no additional outbound costs are charged for retrieving data. That makes costs more predictable, especially for data-intensive applications and AI workloads. Combined with serverless databases, a data platform and queues, you keep data and processing close together in the edge network, so large data volumes remain quickly and economically available.
In a classic central cloud, applications run in individual data centres, whereas edge compute distributes code and data across the global network and executes them close to the user. That shortens latency and enables AI inference at the edge. In addition, object storage carries no egress fees, which makes data retrieval more cost-effective than many central offerings.
